I'll break it down into the simplest possible points so that even someone who has never dealt with politics can understand it:

---

1. Politics is just a backdrop

People think that elections decide the direction of the state.

In reality, only the faces (politicians) change during elections, but the rules of the game remain the same.

---

2. The rules of the game are written by "experts"

Politicians no longer decide on key issues (money, health, ecology).

Expert teams and algorithms that are beyond the voter's reach decide.

---

3. How they do it

They take a word that everyone considers important (e.g. "security", "health", "environment").

Then they expand it to cover everything.

NATO: security = economy, climate, culture → they can intervene anywhere.

WHO: health = housing, food, education → they can run society, not just hospitals.

---

4. “Voluntary standards” that are mandatory

Organizations will issue rules that are “voluntary”.

But if you don’t follow them, they will disconnect you from business, finance or technology.

So you have no choice – the rules become binding through economic pressure.

---

5. COVID as an example

During Covid, everything started at once:

data and graphs determined policy,

apps and QR codes controlled behavior,

banks froze protesters’ accounts,

media created a moral framework (“responsible” vs. “irresponsible”).

After the pandemic ended, the system did not disappear – it remained ready for other “emergencies”.

---

6. The final trick

Standards and algorithms are built directly into the infrastructure (banks, internet, healthcare).

This means: you can't vote against them or protest - you simply won't get through the system.

For example, if you don't meet the requirements (ESG score, digital identity, carbon limit),

you won't get a loan,

you can't travel,

you'll be dropped from the market.

---

7. Why do they call it an "algorithmic coup d'état"

The state pretends that everything is democratic.

But in reality, the algorithm and expert network rule, not the politicians you elect.

The government is moving from the hands of citizens to an invisible technical system.

---

👉 In practice:

People feel that they "have no influence".

This is not a mistake or an illusion.

This is the goal of the system - politics should become meaningless so that technocracy can rule.

"Politics is just a backdrop today. Elections change faces, but not the rules of the game. These are determined by expert networks and algorithms that pretend to be neutral. The rules are always 'voluntary', but if you don't follow them, you'll be cut off from finance, trade, or services. That's an algorithmic coup d'état - democracy on the surface, technocracy in reality."

... and the fundamental unit of account is monetary.

This is brilliant for showing the nuts and bolts of how our model of governance is being changed without our consent - thank you!

Have re-stacked, and can we print the executive summary in the next edition of The Light newspaper with your credit and link please?

esc's avatar

As long as you give credit you can print on cocktail napkins for your next toga party as far as I’m concerned! :)

The Light's avatar

Lol - well, we're a bit more professional-looking than that, and thank you!

Excellent and comprehensive appraisal of the design and interconnectedness of control mechanisms that have increased exponentially and are fast gaining ground. More people need to be aware and alert to the dangers that face us all now and even more in the future. Unfortunately resistance is exceptionally difficult, if not impossible.

there are exit routes. it's just that they've done what they could to ensure you didn't see them.

A similar comprehensive review of all those possible exit strategies and routes would be a very useful article at some point.

Your articles are fantastic but very sadly most of my friends and acquaintances would not take the trouble to read them properly.

I realise how difficult it would be to produce a simple and brief explanation of the problems posed and how to avoid them but that would would be very helpful to tempt others to look into the subject in more depth.

You clearly have an encyclopaedic knowledge and understanding of the issues and would be in a great position to extract sufficient bare bones to engage the interest of a wider audience.

esc's avatar

that is exactly what i'm working on at the moment.

keep in mind that once you have ideas, complex as they may be, they also constutute building blocks from others to destill, simplify, and further develop. so even if individual articles don't gain traction, the overall objective is still achieved if someone picks it up and further develops the concept.

that's why even when posts which should, in my obviously biased perspective, make headline news don't discourage overall from my perspective - because truth will win in the end, it's just a matter of the path to victory.

i'm not particularly religious, though my wife is. but all of this has convinced me that monism; godless communism certainly is not the way to go.

You’re doing sterling work! Thank you.

that's nuts. if so, that does appear to suggest they're "not particularly keen" on that being shared.

no, deleted my account on the world’s most censurious social media platform

Why? When you're only pointing out they have another 20 years to make what they are doing possible, lol. You're doing them a favor but they can't see that?

esc's avatar

they are harvesting your tweets and training Grok on that account, SpaceX is placing spy satellites in orbit for the intelligence services, and Musk was very early out as a promoter of AI Ethics.

how many reasons do you need?

but they really do appreciate you staying. after all, they need to know how to silence you in the future - and that's why they train Grok on your tweets.

i got on twatter in 2019, and was useful when i started to wake up during to covid scam. got off it in 2022, because i'd realised without knowing the nuts and bolts (which your comment above described), that staying on is only feeding the beast - musk being one of the beasts useful idiots.

i'm now at the point of feeling that use of all or most tech is still actually feeding the beast.

just come across your stack via mike yeadon sharing, and have scanned through as not had time to read much.

i can see its amazing stuff and will circulate amongst the very few relevant channels i'm using on TG and restack here, and of course sub to your stack, so thank you
