Today universities teach by rote; particularly students to NEVER argue against what they are taught. Here in the UK this has had a dramatic effect; for example; the Royal Society in London, supposedly the premier scientific institution, has, for many decades . . . deliberately binned, (yes, destroyed), EVERYTHING it received that was not created by a Fellow of the RS. That their librarian proudly announced that their library only contains books written by their Fellows.
